Wireless setup guide for iPhone/iPod Touch

Introduction
This document describes how to connect an iPhone/iPod Touch to the RMIT secure wireless network (RMIT-WPA). The steps to getting connected are connecting to unsecured RMIT wireless network, installing the RMIT University profile and then connecting to the secure RMIT-WPA network. Finally, proxy settings must be configured. These steps are documented in this guide.

Instructions for iPhone/iPod Touch users
2.1 Preparation
Before beginning your wireless configuration, please ensure your Novell (NDS) account is active and that the password has not expired. This is your staff ā€˜e’ number or your student ā€˜s’ number.

2.2 Connecting to RMIT wireless
It is necessary to first connect to the unsecured RMIT network so that the RMIT profile can be downloaded, enabling connection to the secure network. To connect to the unsecure RMIT network:

  1. Step 1. Press the Settings icon from the home screen of your iPhone or iPod Touch.
  2. Step 2. Press Wi-Fi on the Settings screen.
  3. Step 3. Select RMIT if it is not already selected.
  4. Step 4. Press the home button to go back to the home screen.

2.3 Installing the RMIT University profile
Now you have a connection to the unsecured RMIT network, the RMIT University profile can be downloaded and installed. Steps to download and install the profile:

  1. Step 1. On the home screen, press the Safari icon.
    Note: Browsing the internet before completing setup will bring up the RMIT Wireless web page shown in Figure 5.
  2. Step 2. D ouble tap the grey box on the left hand side of the RMIT Wireless web page to zoom into the Setup Guide.
  3. Step 3. P ress the iPhone3G/iTouch link.
  4. Step 4. From the Install Profile screen, press Install.
  5. Step 5. Press Install Now to install the RMIT University profile.
  6. Step 6. Enter your RMIT ID.
  7. Step 7. Enter your RMIT password.
  8. Step 8. From the Profile Installed screen, press Done.
