Getting started – Assembly
When you register as a subscriber with AT&T, you get a SmartChip. The SmartChip keeps track of your phone number, the services included in your subscription, and your address book information, among other things.

Before you start using your phone, you need to insert a SmartChip and
the battery.

To insert the SmartChip

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Slide the SmartChip into its holder with the gold colored contacts facing down.

To insert the battery

  1. Insert the battery with the label side up and the connectors facing each other.
  2. Close and slide the battery cover into place.

Turning on the phone

  1. Press and hold down .
  2. Select a mode: Normal mode – full functionality. Or Flight mode – limited functionality.
