Before You Turn On Your Phone

1. Remove the back cover Lift the top of the back cover. There’s a narrow opening where you can use your finger to remove the back cover.
2. Remove the battery Lift the battery from the small opening (encircled in the drawing.)
3. Insert the SIM card 1.) Slide the SIM card holder to the right to unlock it, and then flip it open. 2.) Insert the SIM card with its gold contacts facing down and its cut-off corner facing out the card slot. Slide the SIM card completely into the slot.
4. Lock the SIM card holder Close the SIM card holder and then slide the SIM card holder to the left to lock it.
5. Put the battery back in 1.) Align the battery’s exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors inside the battery compartment. 2.) Insert the contact side of the battery first then gently push the battery into place.

In chess, promotion occurs when a pawn reaches the eighth square. At that point, your opponent is challenged because this simple pawn takes on all the powers of a Queen—the deadliest piece on the board. Of course, the pawn may be promoted to bishop, rook, or any other piece but why? This only clues the other player in to your secret plans. That being said, however, promotions to knight can often be strategically useful depending on the situation.

Let’s not get too lost in metaphor. Suffice to say, the circuitous game of promoting one’s blog in the blogosphere (without the proper armament) can often seem as difficult and unrewarding as a daylong chess match that ends in a draw. If you play your game right, however, that pawn can hit the big time. Ideally, the simple act of blogging in and of itself would attract enough traffic to please the author but there are cases in which more is better.

As any retailer or grower will tell you, marketing is as much — or more — an art as it is a science. Certainly growers can keep track of which poinsettia cultivars and colors are sold each year and use that information to help plan for the next year. This assumes, of course, that they know when a cultivar or color ran out. Even with all of that work, however, variations in sales of specific colors and cultivars from year to year can drive a crop scheduler insane. Marketing surveys can make the forecasting a little easier, and we have the results from three universities and one retailer to help you: Purdue University, University of Florida, North Carolina State University and Homewood Nursery and Garden Center.

Collecting The Information
Each site conducts its survey slightly differently, so before we can give you our results, we need to give you the particulars of how the information was collected.

Anyone mention optics?
Just about all my best photos have come out of a 6mp Nikon D40. Yes, 6 megapixels is more than enough for great photos if they’re fat and happy pixels. You could double the pixel count and not see the difference. You might see one if you quadruple it – Sony’s new Alpha 900 has a 24mp sensor. Canon’s top model offers 21mp. Both cost thousands of dollars.

More pixels make more work
If the advantages of extra pixels are dubious, their drawbacks are obvious when loading photos on a PC: the files are very large and slow to process. If you’re a dead keen amateur, you may find a major PC hardware upgrade necessary. Big files also take up lots of space on hard drives, with 12mp .jpg shots generating 5-6 mb files. Hard drive capacity is cheap these days but keeping these files backed-up takes time.

Using the Wii Menu
When the Wii console power is turned on, the first screen you will see is the Wii Menu. From this screen, you can do several activities:

• Play a Game Disc
• Use one of the built-in software programs (Channels) included with the Wii console
• Change Wii console settings
• Access the SD Card Menu screen (To use this menu item, an SD Card [sold separately] must be inserted into the SD Card slot. The icon will appear gray if there is no SD Card inserted.)
• Interact with the Wii Message Board
